Tournament Update from USAFH for U19 NITs...
We look forward to seeing you at the 2021 U19 NIT at the Greater Richmond Convention Center this weekend. Here is some information that you’ll want to know before you go to help keep the weekend safe and running smoothly.

USA Field Hockey and the Greater Richmond Convention Center have partnered to make this event possible, following strict safety protocols jointly established and approved by the Virginia Department of Health. These protocols were designed to keep you and all attendees safe, so we appreciate your help in following all policies.

Please remember that everyone in the building must be wearing a mask at all times, including athletes, players, umpires, vendors and fans. Masks must cover both the nose and mouth. If you need to be reminded about the mask policy while in the building, you may be asked to leave. If players and coaches are non-compliant, games may be stopped and forfeited. The only exception to this rule is players who have submitted a doctor’s note at check-in indicated an excused health condition.

The Event Information Packet on the USA Field Hockey website has been update to include this information.

Building Entry and Exit

One door to the GRCC facility will be open for entry. This door is located at the corner of 5th and Marshall. All attendees will be exiting the building via the door on Marshall between 3rd and 5th. The Vendor Village entrance is located on the corner of 3rd and Marshall.

Team Arrival for Coaches and Players

Each court has an established staging area inside the building to facilitate required social distancing. There is not enough room for all coaches, players and parents to enter at the same time. As a result, we are asking that attendees follow the entry guidelines:

Make sure to download the Tourney Machine App and know your team’s court.

Courts 1,2,3,6, & 7 - Arrive at venue 45-60 minutes prior to your game. You will be lined up inside the building along 5th Street.

Courts 4, 5, 8 and 9 – Arrive at venue 30-45 minutes prior to your game. You will be lined up inside the building along Marshall Street.

Arrival and Guidelines for Spectators

Spectators are limited to one per player, and there is no need to arrive, early as spectators will wait outside the building until athletes have filed onto the courts, which will be just 5-10 minutes prior to the match. Please prepare for waiting outside, and dress appropriately.

Team coaches will receive a wristband upon check-in to distribute to their parents. We encourage each coach to assign an assistant coach and/or one parent per team to manage and distribute their team’s spectator wristbands. GRCC Staff will be checking parent wristbands at the door and again by each court to make sure that only one fan per player is around each court. If spectators exceed the limit, fans will be asked to leave.

Video and Livestream

Touchline Video will be recording and live streaming all games on all courts. USA Field Hockey provides and uploads all game video to Coach Packet for college coaches to access at no cost to help facilitate the college recruiting process. Game film, highlight videos, livestream and recruiting profile videos are available for purchase at touchlinevideo.com. If you have any questions about video or livestream, please contact Touchline Video.

Vendor Village

Thank you to YOLO Sportswear, the presenting sponsor of the 2021 National Indoor Tournament. YOLO will be selling a wide selection of Official NIT and USA Field Hockey branded apparel. Their store will be located in Conference Room 10D, located just steps from the venue exit door. YOLO shoppers can also go to yolosportswear.com to view merchandise and order for convenient pick up.

GOAT USA will also be vending in Conference Room 10D.

Growing the Greatest Game (GGG) will be in attendance to talk about the new initiative and partnership with USA Field Hockey to grow the game among diverse athletes and make field hockey more accessible and inclusive to all. GGG will be accepting donations of lightly used equipment and gear.

Vendor Village will also have a separate entrance at Marshall and 3rd so attendees can shop at their convenience throughout the event.

Vendor Village Hours are: Friday: 12:20 pm - 8:00 pm Saturday: 8:30 am -8:00 pm Sunday: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm

Message from USAFH...

We know you all have been anxious in seeing the U10 U12 NIT schedule, plesae head over to Tourney Machine! CLICK HERE

Just as a side note - all teams are placed in pools of like rating - Pool lettering does not mean anything!

There are some pools that are uneven, if you have a cross pool match, this is considered an "exhibition" match and will not count towards final pool standings. If you are in a longer pool, any team that has been given a 6th game, that final 6th game will not count for that team - it will for the other team as it is their 5th.

We are still finalizing tie breaker standards for this division, and you all will be notified of this prior to the start of the tournament.

Team Viewing party
Christine Waters made arrangements for families to use the Holiday Inn Express and Suites (a mile away from TTC) during the tournaments.   Holiday Inn Express and Suites, 15 Keystone Drive, Limerick, PA 19468

The hotel will provide us use of their conference room from 7am-10pm . They will provide us wifi, a projector and a screen to stream the games, a spacious warm conference room to use and access to bathrooms in the hotel. Each team would need one person to bring a laptop and hdmi cord to hook up to the projector.

We are allowed to bring food and drinks into the hotel, their only request is that we leave the room clean and free of trash. If each team was interested and we had 6 families from each team who attended, the cost would only be $8 per family.

Team Parents please contact Christine Waters to let her know how many of your families plan to participate when their team is playing.

Schedule: CLICK HERE TO VIEW!

The schedule is set and in place following our COVID guidelines from the state and local government. I built in a 10-minute gap between each game to help ease the burden of playing back-to-back games.

The tournament is still running through Tourney Machine. Please download/refer to Tourney Machine for the schedule, scores, and team standings throughout the day. If you are in a group with bracket play, brackets will be created and updated through Tourney Machine.
Please tell your parents and coaches to be patient with us at HQ when entering scores and creating brackets. If parents come up to the table, the same answer will be given every single time, “check Tourney Machine.” The Tourney Machine app is available on the App Store and Android Marketplace and will be streaming on the TVs behind HQ.

If a score is entered wrong into Tourney Machine a COACH/ASSISTANT COACH must be the one to let HQ know. Parents will not be permitted to bring issues up about scores.

*Be mindful when signing the score cards as this is our way of keeping track. If both coaches sign the score card and the score on the card is wrong, it will not be changed.

Facility/COVID: Our F&B has been shut down. There will be a snack bar open with limited F&B options. Please come prepared!  As a reminder, the COVID guidelines are attached. For overall facility guidelines and how United Sports is handling the COVID-19 pandemic, please click HERE.

Tournament Site is: Yellow Breeches Sports Center, 700 Shawnee Court, New Cumberland PA

Capital Clash Medals will be awarded to each Pool Winner

-Spectators are allowed but please limit to 2 spectators per athlete.  Feel free to find anywhere in the facility to watch from except behind the team benches.  There is also a 2nd floor viewing area along one end of the court that you can also watch from.  It is your responsibility to make sure you are staying safe and social distancing from others.  Everyone is entering at their own risk and voluntarily.
Capital Clash Tournament Director's focus will be on providing the athletes and coaches spaces in the facility to help keep them away from everyone else as much as possible.
-Athletes please arrive 30 minutes before your first game so you can find your team area and warm up.  Please do NOT enter the facility earlier than 30 minutes before your first game.
-Everyone must wear facemasks while inside the facility and are asked to do your best to stay socially distanced while inside the facility.      -Athletes and spectators, please leave the facility as soon as your last game has finished so there will be more room for the next group of teams and spectators.
-Yellow Breeches has hand sanitizing stations available for everyone entering the facility.
Yellow Breeches has two high volume industrial fans for 2.4 million square feet of air that are running at all times. Our building is 88,000 sq ft.
- Please do not come to play or spectate if you are experiencing any symptoms of illness including fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, headache, and sore throat.
- Per the PA Governor's current mandate, all athletes must wear face masks into the facility. Athletes can only remove their face masks when they are actively playing and wearing their mouth guard if they feel wearing both a mouth guard and facemask creates a medical concern for the athlete's safety.  This is based off of PA CDC guidelines that “it is not safe to wear masks with protective equipment, such as helmets and mouth guards, used in sports because it makes it hard for the players to breathe, and would create a medical issue.”
- Coaches must wear face masks at all times.
- There are 4 locker rooms with private bathrooms available for teams to use between games to help everyone stay socially distanced when not on the courts... Each club will have a locker designated for your teams! Athletes and coaches please hang out in your team's designated locker room or on the practice court between your games so you are not near the spectators.
- There will be a warm up area on the sport court next to the game court for teams who are up next to play, please only be on the court if your game is the next game on the schedule. Please walk behind the team bench area to access the warm up space, this will allow teams to not have to walk past spectators when entering the sport court warm up area.
- We will be using a large court side clock for all games and scores
- Tourney Machine App will be used to update game scores so no one will need to congregate to see the pool standings
- FIH approved metal boards
- There will NOT be a concession stand but there are a few vending machines with waters and gatorates available for purchase if needed
- There will not be an on site athletic trainer but ice bags, band aids and basic medical supplies will be available for anyone to use.

Due to COVID-19, Nook has an updated waiver that each participant will need to have completed prior to entering the building.

You can find the waiver linked here.  Spooky Nook Sports Waiver

Below is Update from Spooky Nook on Masks and Facility Policies:

By Order of the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health, every individual, age two and older, in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania shall wear a face covering when indoors or in an enclosed space, where another person or persons who are not members of the individual’s household are present in the same space, irrespective of physical distance, except as provided in Section 3 of the Order.

https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/coronavirus/Pages/Guidance/Universal-Masking-FAQ.aspx

Can an athlete remove their mask during play if the mask causes a medical condition, including respiratory issues that impede breathing?

Yes, the Order provides an exception in section 3 that provides that if wearing a face covering would either cause a medical condition, or exacerbate an existing one, including respiratory issues that impede breathing, a mental health condition or a disability.  The order indicates all alternatives to wearing a face covering, including the use of a face shield, should be exhausted before an individual is excepted from this Order.

Using football as an example, wearing a mask in addition to a mouth guard and a helmet would likely create a medical issue for the athlete whether the athlete is a professional or youth player even if a previous medical issue was not present. For example, the CDC says that "wearing a mask with these types of protective equipment is not safe if it makes it hard to breathe." There are other sports where there are similar concerns that a mask would create a medical issue where one would otherwise not exist in an athlete. For example, it should also be obvious that wearing a mask while swimming presents an imminent health issue.

According to Section 3, the athlete would be asked to work through alternatives that would reduce or eliminate the respiratory droplets that would impact others in proximity. If the sport, equipment, or exertion level does not allow for face covering to be worn safely then the athlete should not wear a face covering.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health does not expect businesses to put employees in harm’s way by enforcing this order.  We believe our team and our approach is in compliance with all current orders and mandates. This includes efforts like:

  • Temperatures checks with all guests and employees entering the complex.
  • Plexiglass installation at all high-volume customer services locations (hotel, restaurant, fitness, guest services).
  • Requiring and reminding guests that masks are mandatory while within our facility
  • Our Facility Enhancement Team cleans and sanitizes major touchpoints routinely
  • Our Food & Beverage Team has adapted all food service policies to ensure the safety of all guests

Again, the PA Department of Health does not expect employees to put themselves in harm’s way by carrying out enforcement.

Due to COVID-19, Nook has an updated waiver that each participant will need to have completed prior to entering the building.

You can find the waiver linked here.  Spooky Nook Sports Waiver

Nook will have a temperature check station for all players and spectators as you enter the building.  Spectators are allowed.

Click here for schedule *Updated as of 9:40 PM 12/4/2020

Please read all the Nook Guidelines listed below:

Coaches, athletes, and spectators must wear face coverings while actively engaged in workouts and competition as well as when on the sidelines, in the dugout etc. unless they meet an exception in the Face Covering Order. Section 3 of the Order provides an exception that allows an individual to remove their mask if wearing a face covering would either cause a medical condition, or exacerbate an existing one, including respiratory issues that impede breathing, a mental health condition or a disability.

For example, the CDC says that “wearing a mask with these types of protective equipment is not safe if it makes it hard to breathe.” There are other sports where there are similar concerns that a mask would create a medical issue where one would otherwise not exist in an athlete.

We are fortunate at Spooky Nook because of our ability to spread groups out across all 14 acres of our complex.

All spectators will be expected to socially distance themselves from others and utilize upper mezzanine seating for games.

In order to protect the health and safety of our customers, athletes, and staff members, please take note of the following reminders:

·         Spectators are allowed, but must social distance from one another. Masks are required at all times for spectators (exception Medical Conditions).

·         Avoid unnecessary contact before, during and after activities (fist bumps, high fives, shaking hands).

·         Temperatures checks with touchless thermometers will be done for everyone upon entry. Anyone with a temperature over 100.4 will not be permitted to enter the facility.

·         If you are feeling sick, please stay home.

We know these times are difficult for everyone. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

**All teams were given 3 games!
A few teams have 4 games just because we needed an extra team to fill in for some games.

-Games are one 15 min half, 2 minutes between games.  There will be a warm up area on the sport court for teams who are up next to play.
-The locker rooms will be available for teams to put their gear and hang out when not playing so they can stay socially distanced from all other teams and spectators when not playing.
-Spectators are allowed but limited to 2 spectators per athlete.  Spectators of older athletes (U14s, U16s and U19s) please stay outside in your vehicles until the start of your athlete's first game so we don't have too much overlap with too many spectators in the facility.  Guardians of U10s and U12s, please have one spectator accompany your athlete into the facility to find their team and then please return to your vehicle until the team's first game.
-Athletes please arrive 30 minutes before your first game so you can find your team and warm up.  Please do NOT enter the facility earlier than 30 minutes before your first game.
-Spectators must wear facemasks while inside the facility and are asked to do your best to stay socially distanced while inside the facility.
-Athletes and spectators, please leave the facility as soon as your last game has finished so there will be more room for the next group of teams and spectators.
-Yellow Breeches has hand sanitizing stations available for everyone entering the facility.
-This event is ONLY for CPFH athletes, no outside teams will be attending this event.

**As with all practices and tournaments, if you have any signs or symptoms of COVID or have been exposed to COVID please do not attend this event and instead fill out the CPFH Tournament Absence form listed on our CPFH Homepage and also email your team's coach.

Wear your CPFH uniform, if listed as the Home team, wear your white jersey and white socks.  If listed as the Away team, wear your purple jersey and black socks.  If you did not receive your uniform yet, please wear your practice pinnine and your CPFH white or black socks.
There will be officials on the courts and we will run the games just like a regular tournament as this is great practice for everyone.

When it comes to COVID-19 precautions (from tournament director)....

1. The waiver is attached. Each athlete MUST turn in a waiver. This waiver is their golden ticket to step onto the field. There will not be any waivers on site, so it is essential you bring additional copies for your participants who might forget.
2. Before entering the field each athlete must hand me their waiver, and show proof they have finished our daily symptom checker (mobile device needed).
3. Our daily symptom checker will be done via this link, https://qfreeaccountssjc1.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_7UtaeaS8GHiMIHr, it will only work on Sept 26th 6am-8pm. They must take a screenshot of the results. It might be easiest for you to distribute the link when your entire group has arrived, have them complete the form and then see me or my assistant for proof of completion. If an athlete hits a certain score they will not be able to participate.
4. Please enter the field closest to the Nook, and exit the field closest to the parking lot.
5. We ask that all coaches and players on the sideline wear a mask. A mask is not needed to be worn while playing on the field.
6. Please encourage your team to wear a mask and stay socially distant at all times when not on the field competing.
7. We request that each participant allow only 2 spectators on site.
8. There will be no water stations set up due to safety concerns.
